Comparison of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy with open Cholecystectomy at Roi- et Hospital

A comparative studay among two group of patients who present to Roi-et Hospital with gallstones disease was performed. Group one there were 202 cases treated by Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (LC). In group two There were 167 Cases treated by Open Cholecystectomy (OC).
This study was carried out from Jan. 1994 to 1996. There was no difference in age and sex of the two groups . The more advantage of LC group were demonstrated with respect to the doration of hospitalization, post operative pain, post operativefever,postoperativeileus.AlmostallLCgroupandnoneinOC group, but there was no significant difference. The only. One disadvangage of LC group was the cost of operation that higher than OC group about 10 times.In conclusion LC should be the first choice of treatment in uncomplicted gallstones disease patient.
